Alan Yager

When we spoke to Dad he told us that Marlin Hunt had called him and told him that Alan fell at work. He broke his ankle and they cannot cast it due to the diabetes that Alan has. He is on bedrest for 23 hours a day, and can only be on his foot for a total of 1 hour a day. He will be on this schedule for 7 weeks. This would be very hard and I thought some of you may want to send a card to brighten his days, too! I do not have their address with me, but will post when I get home unless someone else has it handy and will post it before I do. Thanks!

Hi All. I emailed Ronnie yesterday and this is what was here this morning when I got to work. I just wanted to share it with you.
Thank you all for your prayers. That is right the feeding tube goes in on the 21st, then I start the kemo and radition on the 27th. That will be a long day, the kemo will take 4hrs and radition only 15 min. but we go to hospital at 7:30 am and dont leave till after 4 pm if all goes well. then radition the rest of the week at 11:30, least for the first week. But everyTuesday is when I have Kemo and radition so they are my long days. But all should go well It is only monday thru Friday But it is enough. My cancer Doctors said that they are going to por it ti me, so the side effects might get bad, but they don't know me very well do they? HA HA Oh I go for the pet scan on this Friday to see if it has spread, I will let you know when I get the results. You all (family) are a great bunch to have for support THANK YOU ALL hope I won't become a pest. Love you all Ron

MOM'S SURGERY

Just a reminder to all of you that Mom will have her surgery on the 15th. They are still unsure of the time, as they wait until the last day to tell you to fill all of the cancellation spots. She is excited to have this done and see if it will work. They will use a laser and try to clear off all of the scar tissue and nodules that have grown on her vocal chords as a result of the bad experience putting the tube down her throat for the shoulder surgery four months ago. The pictures she showed us from the camera they used to see the damages were awful. There is alot of damage.
We are very hopeful for her that this will work and be the end of her suffering. She will not be able to talk for one whole week after the surgery to allow the vocal chord time to heal. That would be tough!! Remember her in your prayers, cards and phone calls to dad!

Ronnie

Has anyone started a package for Ronnie? He called on Wed the 7th and talked to Mike as I was at work. Mike said he sounded upbeat but I think it would have been different if he had been talking to me. (doing the macho thing with Mike).

Callie, thanks for talking with him and giving him hope and encouragement. He will need alot of that in the time ahead.

Happy Birthday Libby and Ella!

I must say they do grow up way to fast!! I also wanted to add that I have finally gotten Libby's blog all up to date with Christmas photos. Just in time for the birthday party! I didn't know how much I would miss my computer until I didn't have it for 10 days.

Ronnie Needs All of US!!!!

Ronnie called last night to talk about his current health crisis. He is very upset about what the future holds for his cancer treatment and we talked for quite awhile about how I got through all of the treatments and health issues associated with radiation and cancer. He is beginning a treatment plan with doctors at the University of Wisconsin for his cancer located just below the ear and jaw bone end on his neck. He will have to have all of his teeth pulled before he begins radiation, painful in itself. Then he will begin a series of 7 weeks of radiation for 5 days a week and a chemo treatment on 1 of those days. At this point, they will let him heal from the radiation scars and then do a surgery to remove the cancer and any lymph nodes that are affected. He has been told by his doctor that he will have to have a feeding tube, due to the radiation on the throat. Throat radiation is terrible. I have seen 2 people go through this - terrible pain. A series of 7 weeks of radiation is what I endured and it is brutal. We need to support Ronnie all we can. He is very worried and depressed about how he will get through all this. Thank goodness that he has Kathy and Becky. He also said that Kathy's daughter is a CNA and his offered to help all she can. Ronnie asked how I could even get through each day - and my answer was that I knew I wanted to live and needed to survive! I kept my faith in the healing process, my faith in my doctors, and my faith in knowing that each day was a gift to recovery. I kept going each day due to my family and friends sending cards of love and phone calls of concern to keep my spirits up. It truly keeps you going on a bad day. We need to now provide this network of love for Ronnie. I only have his phone number of 1-608-635-0057 with me here is Florida. Could someone post his E Mail?
